Bozeman Health Foundation ‘Roaring 20s’ Hospitality Gala a Roaring Success!

Bozeman Health Foundation raised a record-breaking $870,000 during its annual Hospitality Gala held on April 27 in support of Bozeman Health Cancer Center and local cancer care. What a night, it was! With 520 dapper fellas and flappers bedecked in their best glad rags, pinstripes and pearls, your presence truly made it a night to remember.

Themed ‘The Roaring 20s’, the gala was held in the Strand Union Ballrooms at Montana State University and hosted by emcee Terry Cunningham and auctioneer Missy O’Malley. The event featured the MSU Jazz Trio and a surprise dance performance by Downbeat Vintage Swing Society, as well as three patient video stories sharing their unique cancer journeys.

Thanks to the generosity of community support, the foundation surpassed its $550,000 goal, and met a $50,000 live drive challenge match provided by five Bozeman Health physicians and an anonymous donor. A $300,000 special gift was also made. Support raised helps to ensure the most advanced technology and treatment options are available at the cancer center, including 26 new infusion chairs, two ultrasound machines, high-tech patient monitors, an oral laser, an onsite nutritionist, and a dedicated naturopath partner to be embedded in the center to provide support to patients at no or little cost.

Proceeds will also refuel the Cancer Patient Care Fund to provide transportation vouchers, gas cards and specialized transport, short-term lodging through the Care Cottage and other medical equipment needs not covered by insurances but important to treatment.

“Access to cancer treatment, close to home, undoubtedly leads to improved outcomes for patients and their families,” said Bozeman Health medical oncologist Justin Thomas, MD.
