Bozeman Health Foundation is proud to announce the establishment of the Nursing Excellence Fund, made possible by a generous donation from Bozeman residents Brenda and Swep Davis. This fund is dedicated to promoting nursing excellence at Bozeman Health by supporting leadership development, innovative best-practice nursing projects, and educational activities aimed at enhancing patient care outcomes and fostering a culture of nursing excellence.

Brenda said their gift was inspired by the “phenomenal care” she received by her nurses during a lengthy stay at Bozeman Health Deaconess Regional Medical Center where she received treatment for an acute illness.

“It was very frightening, and frankly a close call,” she said. “But I experienced firsthand the incredible impact that dedicated and well-trained nurses have on patient care. We wanted to give back by helping to launch this fund, which will hopefully result in inspiring others to also support our Bozeman Health nurses.”

Bozeman Health’s chief nursing officer Kiera Pattison expressed gratitude for the donation and partnership with the Foundation.

“Bozeman Health nurses strive to provide the best care to our patients,” Pattison said. “We have an incredible nursing team who always put patients first, with compassion and care. We’re striving to achieve ‘Nursing Magnet’ status and are grateful for this support, which will help with this goal.”

Pattison said the fund will help establish a pathway for nurses to collaborate and create impact and to lead changes that establish an optimal work environment for the delivery of nursing care, with particular focus on nurse sensitive indicators such as nursing turnover, staffing and skill mix, workforce as well as patient flow and patient outcomes.

“These qualities, when combined with collaborative interdisciplinary professional practice, promote excellence in health care delivery and enhancement of an organization’s overall health,” she said.
